SPORT FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

Shampan Foundation is a UK charity working to bring positive change to young people in Bangladesh through the power of sport. The Foundation is the charity arm of Shampan Group and was founded in July 2011
Through engagement, participation, development, competition, education, and equality, sports has the power to open young people’s outlook and perspective, benefitting the wider community, as well as encouraging and inspiring change. Shampan Foundation aims to promote social inclusion through sports and youth- focused activities to those who are socially excluded and face abject poverty. We aim to develop a culture of ownership and responsibility through youth‐led empowerment and participation activities in the interest of social welfare. These activities are specifically designed to improve the conditions of life, develop a person’s skills, and build the capacity and capability of the individual to help them participate and fully integrate into society.
Shampan Foundation raises aspiration and ambition by providing opportunity and access to continue in education, including physical education. Currently, the on- going projects are helping to improve the lives of many young people in the Sylhet and Moulvibazar regions of Bangladesh. The projects focus on football, education, and youth leadership.

Since the launch in 2012, Shampan Foundation has grown and developed in incredible ways. One example showcasing this is our archery team being involved in a national tournament in December 2014 and reaching the semi‐finals. Another example is the education project, which encompasses the building of a new school and the provision of laptops for each child to continue their education with. An excellent third example is the football team progressing in a way that allows individuals to have more opportunity and realistic avenues to reach professional teams in Bangladesh.
